Close surroundings
The town of Klimkovice has remained its idyllic, natural character thanks to a lot of greenery and a clean environment. You can get to the center in 45 minutes walking or by a 6-minute bus ride. Downtown you'll find:

The Renaissance Chateau Klimkovice built in 1578, which is still being used as town hall and a museum
The Church of St. Catherine, connected to the chateau and surrounded by a large park
In the Petr Bezruc Community Park, you'll find two ponds, 120 types of trees and an aviary
The Holy Trinity Chapel, the oldest building in town, dating back to 1529. It is used for exhibitions.
The Klimkovice Town Square with a 16th century archway and cute little shops
In the Community Center next to the castle area, you will find a bowling alley and a restaurant
Furthermore, there are several pubs, restaurants and a patisserie/pizzeria

Ostrava
The town of Ostrava is a green town with interesting buildings and a beating nightlife. The Klimkovice center is approximately 20 kilometers from the Spa Resort. Recommended places of interest are as follows:

Ostrava's Silesian Castle built in 1297. It is the oldest build monument in Ostrava. You will find a display of torture tools, a museum of witches, and a fish pond in the cellars.
The 85 m high New Town Hall Observation Tower with wonderful panoramic views of the Beskydy Mountain Range, hills along Odra river, and Poland
Miniuni attraction for children and adults with more than 20 models of significant buildings of European cities, such as Big Ben, Old Town Hall or one of the best-known landmarks of Berlin the Brandenburg Gate, all dominated by the 12 meter-high Eiffel tower. The models are built at a scale of 1:25.
The Cellar of Tales is an exhibition of fairytale characters and puppets. This sightseeing attraction also includes the Haunted Forest, the Ice Chamber and the Dragon Rocks. This is a popular attraction mainly for children.

The Ostrava ZOO with 270 species of animals and a new sea aquarium, situated in the forestry area of Ostrava
The Johann Palisa Observatory and Planetarium with captivating views at night. The planetarium projects approximately 9,000 stars, planets, Moon etc. onto an artificial sky. There are regular lectures and guided tours.
The Michal Coal Mine, which was appointed a National Cultural Monument after the mining had been brought to a stop. In several buildings spread over the area, the skill of mining and everything that is connected to it is demonstrated. Last but not least, you can descend into one of the former corridors where you can see the conditions under which the miners had to work.
Culture and entertainment in Ostrava can be found in: two theatres, two puppet theatres, several cinemas, the Community Hall with concerts, performances, etc., the Stodolní Street, which never sleeps and is full of restaurants, music halls etc.
Finally, you will also find sport activities in Ostrava: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, ice rink and a sports stadium

Day Trips
In the outstretched environment you'll find numerous places of interest:

The protected area called "Polanka Lowlands" is well known thanks to the River Odra that floods the grounds regularly and causes unique vegetation. It is a relaxing and beautiful walk to observe local vegetation. From this area, the iodine-bromine water is pumped outward toward the Spa Resort Klimkovice.
The town of Studénka with its Museum of Railroad Carriages.
The town of Příbor, the birth place of the psychologist Sigmund Freud. The local museum is dedicated to him. Furthermore, there is a nice town square with archways lining the shops.
Hukvaldy, at the foot of the Beskydy Mountains, is a marvelous park with the ruins of a gothic castle. In May, open-air concerts take place here as a part of the Leoš Janáček festival. Carl Orff's Carmina Burana is traditionally performed.

Kopřivnice is a modern town where "Tatra" trucks are constructed. In the same town, the internationally famous marathon runner Emil Zátopek used to live and there is a museum here dedicated to him.
The lovely city of Štramberk with its tall cylindrical observation tower can be seen from far away. This medieval town with typical wooden houses has been declared a municipal reserve and nicknamed Moravian Bethlehem. Especially, the town square is remarkable. Nearby there is the Šipka Cave where the remnants of a Neanderthal child were found.
The Wallachian Open-Air Museum in Rožnov is a "must". It is the most extended open-air museum in Central Europe. It consists of the Wooden Town, the Valley of Mills and the Wallachian village. The town of Rožnov is a popular tourist town.
Pustevny is a mountainous area where you can admire a "folk architecture". On top of the mountain, there is a statue of Radegast, the god of beer quality from this region. In the winter, it is a popular ski center and in the summer, it is visited by lovers of nature.
Lysá Hora, standing at 1323 meters, is the tallest mountain in Moravia. A walk to the top will be rewarded by an unforgettable panoramic view. In the spring and the fall, a bus goes to the top every Friday.
The city of Opava is nicknamed the White Pearl of Silesia. There are many historical and architectural monuments. The shoppingcenter "Breda" invites you to stroll and shop around.
The romantic State Castle in Hradec nad Moravicí consists of a Red and White Castle with wonderful interiors, that were once also admired by artists, such as Ludwig von Beethoven and Niccolo Paganini
The Helfštýn lies high above the river Bečva in the woods. The beautiful castle is one of the best preserved castles in the Czech Republic and worth seeing.
